The 2006 convention of the Mid-States Region was held in St.
Louis, Missouri at Washington University on June 16th and 17th.
The St. Louis Astronomical Society was the host and the convention
Chair was Jim Small. Cook Feldman was Vice Chair.

Jim called the business meeting to order at 8:26 a.m. After a short
welcome Jim gave the floor to Gary Pittman, the
Secretary/Treasurer, who read the minutes of the 2005 business
meeting. Steve Sands made a motion to accept the minutes as
read. A second was heard from Jackie Beucher. The vote was
taken and the minutes were approved.

Gary then read the Treasurer’s report. A motion to accept the
Treasurer’s report was heard from John Slaton with a second from
Steve Sands. The vote was taken and the report was approved. A
question was asked about the possibility of posting our financial
report on the region web site. A discussion followed and a decision
to post the Treasurer’s report was made.

Patrick Carr, our Mid-States Representative was not in attendance.
Carroll Iorg gave a short report on last years convention. League
sales are now located at the League office in Kansas City, MO.
League sales should be up and running within the next few weeks
with the option of making purchases via the internet available.
Jackie Beucher interjected that Carroll is running for the position of
League Vice President this year.

Tom Martinez, the region Historian/Webmaster was not present this
year and no report was given.

Gary Pittman took the roll call of member clubs in attendance with
many giving a short report on their club activities.

Jim Small opened the nominations to the office of
Secretary/Treasurer. Jackie Beucher nominated Gary Pittman.
Steve Sands came forth with a second. Kathy Machin then made a
motion to close the nominations which was seconded by Cook
Feldman. A vote was taken and the nominations were closed. A
vote was then taken on the nominee and Gary was approved for
another year.
